Futuristic design for Oculus Rift goggle

Look like Facebook’s acquisition of Oculus Rift for whoping US$2 billions put the interest of Virtual Reality on the world map once again. I still remember how badly the virtual world hype has come and gone as fast. Countless investment has been burnt as the the internet world move on to the next big thing.  Still I believe this is a wonderful thing because it opens up a whole lot of opportunities of how we could use VR limit limited by our imagination. How about exploring 3d maps of Apple and Google through the VR goggle ? How about able to touch and feel what you see in the virtual world through Haptic technology ? The close enclosure design of the goggle also means that eye tracking technology can be made more reliable and accurate compare to using in open space environment , and this can be used to navigate the web page by just moving the eye.

So what is my imagination for futuristic goggle that look great, simple and cool, and most importantly practical as well.

I take the clue from this futuristic design of space age bar

Now imagine that the front of the goggle is exactly what the front of the space bar look like instead of the existing square-like-shape.

There is a reason why I think the above design as a goggle make sense besides looking artistic . First of all the design imitates how the eyes will look around, in a curvature manner. The shape of eyeball quite assemble that as well. Most importantly, the whole surface is a capacitive multitouch touchpad where fingers and thumb could rest on and manipulate the surface.  Imagine zooming in and out like binocular as you move your index finger and thumb to and fro through the surface. Yes, the ultimate design should be one that everything can be done through the goggle’s touchpad like inputting the virtual keyboard, scrolling, zooming and other gestures. No need for using your mouse and trackpad on your computer. The computer is just need to transmit data to the goggle. Best of all, the curvature design can be complemented by the Curved P-OLED screen produced by LG for their smartphones as the curvature screen is getting popular in consumer products like TV, tablets and smartphones. So what do you think ?
